Akapana, Ancient pyramid in Bolivia.
The Akapana Pyramid is an archaeological site located near Tiwanaku, in western Bolivia.
It was built during the height of the Tiwanaku empire between AD 500 and 900.
This pyramid once stood at a striking 18 meters tall and was often used as a platform for rituals.
Today, visitors can spend a few hours exploring the pyramid’s remains, even climbing to the top for a panoramic view.
Despite centuries of looting and quarrying, the structure’s foundation has proved remarkably resilient.
