The Memorial da Resistência Mossoroense occupies three floors divided into four modules. Module one covers the history of the Cangaço movement, module two presents biographies of Mossoró's resistance heroes with photographs, module three, "A Cidade", shows photographs of the city's architectural evolution, and module four, "Portal", holds an exhibition hall, film projection rooms, virtual consultations on Cangaço themes, and a literary café.

The city faced a bandit attack in 1927 and its citizens organized a successful defense without military support. This event became a turning point in the regional history of the northeast.

The place tells the story of Cangaço, a bandit phenomenon that shaped northeastern identity. Visitors today can understand how this movement became central to how local people see themselves.

The museum has several exhibition areas that are easy to walk through and offer different focal points. It helps to spend time with the photographs and documents to fully understand the story.

The man killed during the 1927 defense was the cangaceiro Jararaca, one of Lampião's most important band members. Mossoró's residents armed themselves and repelled the band without military forces, a feat attributed to no other city in the Northeast.
