Tutu House, Historical residence in Orlando East, Soweto, South Africa.

The architectural structure stands on Vilakazi Street, featuring an extension designed by architect John Noero in 1990 to enhance the original building.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his wife Leah moved to this house in 1975, during a time when only 15 percent of Soweto residents had electricity.

The residence represents a deliberate choice by Archbishop Tutu to live among the community in Soweto rather than in an affluent white neighborhood.

While the house remains a private residence, visitors can view the commemorative blue plaque installed in 2011 as part of the Johannesburg heritage trail.

Vilakazi Street holds the distinction of being the only street worldwide where two Nobel Peace Prize laureates have maintained residences.
