Hereroland, former bantustan in South-West Africa (now Namibia)
Hereroland was a bantustan in the former South West Africa, established during the period of South African administration. The territory covered several disconnected land areas in the central and eastern parts of present-day Namibia, without forming a continuous geographical unit.
The bantustan was established in 1968 as part of South Africa's policy of separate development. It was dissolved in 1990 with Namibian independence, and the areas were reintegrated into the unified country.
The former administrative structure no longer exists as a defined territory. Travelers interested in this history can visit regional museums and cultural centers in Namibia that provide information about this period.
