Benara

Mont Bénara is a mountain in Grande-Terre, Mayotte, rising 661 meters above sea level with a triangular peak. Its ridges extend westward toward Tchaourembo and eastward to Trambatsini.

The mountain became a protected area when Mayotte gained status as a French overseas territory in the 19th century. This recognition gave the natural landscape formal conservation status.

The surrounding villages show a blend of Comorian, East African, and Arab influences visible in their architecture and daily life. These cultural layers shape how people live and build around the mountain.
