Sakouli Beach

Sakouli Beach is a sand beach in southeastern Mayotte that stretches for about 600 meters along dark-colored shoreline. Tall baobab trees line the edge and the beach faces the nearby Bandrele Island across the water.

The beach remained mostly untouched until 1997, when development projects started to accommodate increasing numbers of visitors. This turning point marked the beginning of gradual change in how the place was used and accessed.

The beach serves as a gathering place where both locals and visitors come together to experience traditional Mayotte cuisine at waterfront restaurants. You can see how the island's daily rhythms and regional food culture naturally blend into the coastal setting.

Two kayak rental centers provide equipment and organize guided trips to nearby Bandrele Island, situated about 2 kilometers offshore. Planning your water activities around tides and daylight hours will help you make the most of your visit.

A coral reef drops off sharply at this beach and reaches depths of several hundred meters, creating a notable diving location. This underwater formation attracts snorkelers and divers eager to explore the rich marine life below the surface.
