Cascade de Soulou, Natural waterfall in Tsingoni, Mayotte.

Cascade de Soulou is a waterfall on Mayotte that drops about 27 meters through dense vegetation and forms natural pools. The water flows over rocks and eventually meets the ocean near the coastline.

This location has served as a gathering point for local people since French settlement in Mayotte during the 1800s. Its role in community life has remained significant across generations.

Local women regularly visit the waterfall for traditional cleansing rituals, especially during preparations before Ramadan. These practices remain an integral part of daily life and beliefs in the community.

Access is via a stepped trail from the parking area near the beach, with the dry season offering better conditions. The terrain is wet and slippery, so appropriate footwear is important.

Here mountain freshwater and ocean water mix together, creating different temperature zones for swimming. This rare occurrence makes the spot special for visitors wanting to experience both water types.
