Parc marin de Saziley, Marine protected area in Mayotte, France
The Saziley Marine Park spans 28 square kilometers between the southern tip of Grande-Terre and the white sand islet in the Indian Ocean.
The marine park received official protection status in 1991 through a decree from the Mayotte prefecture to safeguard local marine resources and biodiversity.
The park contains five beaches, with two serving as nesting grounds for protected sea turtles, while local fishermen maintain traditional fishing practices.
The marine park reaches depths of 46 meters and features two channels measuring 19 and 21 meters deep, making it suitable for diverse marine activities.
The waters within the park provide habitat to more than 80 marine species, including rare dugongs, dolphins, and whales during their migration periods.
