Mamoudzou

Mamoudzou is the capital of Mayotte, located on Grande-Terre island and divided into six villages across its administrative zones. The city spreads across a wide area with different neighborhoods that together form the main administrative and business center of the region.

The town was originally a small settlement and became the administrative capital of Mayotte in 1977. This change marked its growth from a modest community into the main administrative center of the region.
