Frank Drago Reserve, Sports and heritage complex in Bayswater, Australia
Frank Drago Reserve features two soccer fields, tennis courts, croquet lawns, and bowling greens spread across open grounds in eastern Perth. The facilities are arranged to allow multiple sports to operate simultaneously on the same site.
The land was acquired in 1904 by Gold Estates of Australia and later partially purchased by the Bayswater Road Board for recreation at a reduced cost. The site was renamed in 2000 to honor someone whose work shaped the city's parks development.
The reserve serves as a gathering place for several local sports organizations that share the grounds and build strong community ties. These clubs shape how residents spend their free time and interact with each other.
The reserve has 80 parking spaces with designated spots for people with disabilities and plenty of open grass for sitting and watching. The pavilion on site can host gatherings and functions for up to 200 people.
The site was originally known as Bayswater Oval before it was renamed to honor Francesco Maria Drago in 1994. His work on the city's green spaces was significant enough to be remembered through the reserve's new name.
