Principality of Morosvia, Micronation in Western Australia
The Principality of Morosvia covers roughly 75 square kilometers of farmland about 595 kilometers north of Perth in Western Australia. The territory spreads across gentle slopes and open paddocks characteristic of the region's agricultural zones.
Leonard George Casley founded the independent territory in 1970 after disputes with Australian authorities over wheat quotas and land rules. The administration returned to regular farming in January 2020.
The administration building in Nain contains exhibits of local memorabilia, historical artifacts, and displays from the territory's Royal College of Advanced Research.
The territory lies off main roads and requires a long drive through rural tracks across sparsely settled farmland. Travelers should bring adequate supplies, as the nearest towns are far away.
Visitors once purchased official stamps and coins that served as souvenirs of the self-declared independence. The collection ranged from colorful commemorative issues to payment tokens with distinct designs.
