Kertajati International Airport, International airport in Majalengka, Indonesia.
Kertajati International Airport is an international facility in Majalengka, West Java province, serving passengers from different parts of Indonesia and beyond. The terminal covers a large footprint with two separate zones for arriving and departing travelers, organizing the flow of movement through the building.
The president announced in the summer of 2023 that commercial flight operations from the older Husein Sastranegara facility would move here starting in the fall of that year. This decision marked a major shift in the region's air travel infrastructure.
The facility also carries the name Sunan Kalijaga, a revered figure in the history of Islam in Java, reflecting the region's spiritual roots. Visitors notice this local connection through signage and architectural references throughout the terminal.
Several toll roads reach the facility, including the Cisumdawu and the Cikopo-Palimanan, both providing direct connections from different directions. Bus services link the terminal to larger cities in the area, giving travelers multiple options for arrival.
The facility was planned with space for three runways, a scale that few airports in Southeast Asia reach. This capacity allows operations for very large aircraft like the Airbus A380, which typically land only at major hubs.
