Plumpungan Inscription

The Plumpungan Inscription is a stone monolith with detailed carvings located about four kilometers from Salatiga City near Beringin village. The stone bears carefully engraved texts that document religious and administrative information from an earlier time period.

The stone was created on July 24, 750 and contains text about granting land to the village of Hampra, marking an important administrative decision. This early stone inscription shows how authorities at that time documented significant decisions in permanent form.

The inscription displays ancient Javanese script with religious blessings that reflect the early writing traditions and spiritual beliefs of the region. These texts offer insight into the religious thoughts and written culture of the people who lived here at that time.
