Museum Angkut, Transportation museum in Batu, Indonesia.
Museum Angkut is a transportation museum in Batu, East Java, displaying more than 300 vehicles across themed zones representing different continents. The three-story main building sits on the hillside of Mount Panderman and includes a flight simulator along with wheelchair-accessible exhibition spaces.
The facility opened its doors in March 2014 and developed into the first comprehensive transportation museum in Southeast Asia. By 2016, it had already attracted more than 230,000 visitors, underlining its growing importance as a regional destination.
The name combines the Indonesian word for transport with a museum concept that guides visitors through recreated street scenes from multiple countries. Each zone shows how mobility changed across generations, with vehicles presented in lifelike settings that reflect different eras.
The site sits on a hillside and offers access to exhibitions across multiple levels, with ramps and elevators facilitating exploration. Plan several hours to fully tour the themed zones and participate in interactive elements throughout the complex.
One of the exhibits is the Tucuxi electric car, which once belonged to former Indonesian minister Dahlan Iskan. This vehicle was involved in an incident on Mount Lawu, giving it a particular significance within the collection.
