Batu Secret Zoo, Modern zoo in Batu, Indonesia
Batu Secret Zoo is a 17-hectare animal park in Batu, Indonesia, that houses more than 300 species across themed sections including Tiger Land, Reptile Garden, and Savannah enclosures. The facility combines outdoor and indoor exhibits, while bridges and viewing platforms allow visitors to observe animals from changing angles.
The park was founded in 2008 and opened two years later by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Over the following years, management expanded the collection through partnerships with international conservation programs for endangered species.
The grounds feature reconstructed habitats that display animals from Indonesia and other continents, while signs and guided tours explain facts about endangered species conservation. Families with children often use the pathways between enclosures for a full-day visit and combine the experience with the nearby animal museum.
The park sits at Jalan Raya Oro-Oro Ombo 9 and opens daily from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with entry including access to the animal museum. Comfortable shoes help when walking through the sprawling themed sections, and planning enough time allows for exploring the different enclosures without rushing.
An elevated acrylic platform allows visitors to watch tigers up close during feeding times. Specialized enclosures also house pygmy marmosets, which rank among the world's smallest primates and weigh only about 100 grams.
