City of Moonee Valley

The City of Moonee Valley is an administrative area in northwest Melbourne that spans fourteen suburbs positioned between 3 and 13 kilometers from the city center. The region includes neighborhoods with different characters, from residential areas to commercial and industrial zones.

The area was formed in December 1994 through a merger of Essendon City and the eastern part of Keilor City. This consolidation created a single larger administrative unit that reshaped local governance in the region.

The municipality sits on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country, and its five public libraries serve as gathering places for residents who value education and community connection. These spaces reflect how local life centers around sharing knowledge and spending time together.

The area is well connected by the Craigieburn train line and multiple tram networks that link different parts together. Visitors can use these transportation options to move between neighborhoods and explore the various zones.
