Mentone Beach, Sandy beach in Mentone, Victoria, Australia
Mentone Beach is a sandy beach on Port Phillip Bay in Victoria with white sand and shallow waters for swimming and water activities. The shore stretches roughly 1.6 kilometers and is lined with a concrete path decorated with mosaic patterns.
The area was originally inhabited by the Bunurong people before falling under control of the Port Phillip Protectorate between 1839 and 1849. This early European presence shaped the eventual development of the coastal settlement.
The beach has long attracted painters and artists who came to capture the changing light and colors of the bay. Many found inspiration in the natural setting and the way sunlight played across the water.
The beach has showers, toilets, picnic areas, and BBQ stations for visitors. An outdoor gym and shaded rest areas make it comfortable for spending several hours here.
Offshore sits Seagull Rock, a shallow formation that shelters seabirds including albatrosses and cormorants. This spot draws bird watchers and photographers who come to observe the wildlife.
