Tramway Museum Society of Victoria, Transport museum in Bylands, Australia.
The Tramway Museum Society of Victoria is a transport museum in Bylands that preserves trams from Melbourne, Ballarat, Geelong, Adelaide, and Sydney. The facility also displays buses and work vehicles that operated in the region.
The museum was founded in 1962 and acquired the former station master's residence at Bylands railway station in 1970. The organization later purchased the surrounding railway precinct to expand its operations.
The collection shows how local transportation evolved across Victoria over time. You can see different trams, buses, and work vehicles that belonged to various periods.
The museum opens on select Sundays throughout the month and operates vehicles on working track. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for outdoor areas.
The site features about one kilometer of working electric track from the former Heathcote Junction to Bendigo railway line. An exhibition building on display comes from the Melbourne Exhibition of 1880.
