Moama

Moama serves as the administrative hub of the Murray River Council, housing the main offices that manage local government operations for the surrounding region. The center is located in a central position and functions as the primary point of contact for residents seeking council services and information.

The administrative center was established in 2016 following the merger of the former Murray Shire and Wakool Shire into a unified structure. This consolidation created a more efficient governance system for the expansive rural region.

Nine elected councillors from three wards, including Moama, Greater Murray, and Greater Wakool, represent the diverse communities within the administrative boundary.

Access to council services is available during business hours from Monday to Friday, with standard office times for most departments. Visitors should note that certain specialized services may require prior arrangement or appointments.

The administration center offers free wireless internet access and self-service facilities for Centrelink and Medicare services throughout the week.
