Access is via a small coastal road north of Takaka, with simple parking available near the beach. Weather at the shore can change quickly, so bringing weather-resistant clothing and checking tidal forecasts before visiting is wise.
Two small uninhabited islands lie about 1 kilometer offshore and act like natural wave breakers protecting the beach from rough conditions. This formation creates calmer waters that invite swimming and exploration.
