St Gerard's Church and Monastery, Gothic religious complex on Mount Victoria in Wellington, New Zealand.
The church and monastery buildings form a cohesive architectural composition with Gothic-style windows, red-brick arches, and reinforced concrete construction patterns.
The church opened in 1908 under architect John Sydney Swan's direction, while Frederick de Jersey Clere completed the three-story monastery building in 1932.
The buildings served as a center for Catholic missions across New Zealand, featuring an altar made from Devonshire and Carrara marble with Annunciation murals.
The structures require substantial renovation work as they currently meet only 25 percent of building standards and need seismic strengthening improvements.
St Gerard's Church holds the distinction of being the first church worldwide dedicated to Saint Gerard Majella following his official recognition by the Catholic Church.
