Ferndale House, Heritage site in Mount Albert, Auckland, New Zealand.

Ferndale House is a 19th-century brick building located on New North Road that contains two distinct spaces, each with its own kitchen and entrance. The main hall accommodates up to 80 people, while the smaller Pink Room serves groups of around 30.

The Garlick family built this house in the 1860s and enlarged it in 1870, transforming the original cottage named Fern Villa into a larger residence. By the 1890s it had become the meeting place for the Mount Albert Lawn Tennis Club.

This building served as a gathering place for the local tennis club and community groups in the 1890s and has continued to function as a social venue ever since. Visitors can sense how the space was designed to bring people together for celebrations and meetings.

The building is located in a residential area that is easily accessible from central Auckland. The separate entrances and independent kitchens make it straightforward to use one or both spaces depending on your needs.

The building was designed with two completely separate spaces that could operate independently, an uncommon arrangement that allowed two gatherings to happen at the same time without overlap. This dual-purpose design from the Victorian era has been preserved and remains fully functional today.
