The former Commercial Banking Company building at 110-114 Macquarie Street features a central pyramid roofed turret with arcaded wings on each side.
Built between 1906 and 1907, the structure received permanent conservation status in 1981 and was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register in 1999.
The building represents early 20th-century banking architecture in New South Wales through its symmetrical design and distinctive structural elements at street level.
The privately owned structure maintains its original external features while internal modifications from 1980 accommodate modern usage requirements within heritage guidelines.
Two palm trees that originally stood at the site were removed during the 1980 renovations, altering the initial landscape design of this banking establishment.
