Towarri National Park, Nature reserve in Liverpool Plains, Australia

Towarri National Park is a nature reserve in the Upper Hunter region with sandstone outcrops, sheltered waterholes, and patches of rainforest scattered throughout. The park contains mixed vegetation and open areas that change across its rolling terrain.

The park was established in 1998 to protect the diverse ecosystems in this region. Its creation reflected efforts to preserve natural areas across New South Wales.

The park provides essential habitats for numerous bird species, including the speckled warbler and glossy black cockatoo, which hold ecological importance.

Access to the park is mainly through Washpools campground beside Middle Brook, which provides overnight facilities open year-round. The location works for both day visits and extended stays in nature.

There are no marked hiking trails here, inviting visitors to explore the landscape freely. This open structure allows discovery of hidden natural features that might otherwise go unnoticed.
