Magic Kingdom, Former amusement park in Lansvale, New South Wales, Australia.
Magic Kingdom was an amusement park in Lansvale, a suburb of Sydney in New South Wales, set on roughly 36 acres (about 15 hectares) of land bordering Prospect Creek. It featured water slides, a giant dry slide, a lake for mini-boats, and more than 15 rides aimed at families and children.
The park opened in 1970 in an area that was then largely industrial and residential on the outskirts of Sydney, drawing visitors for over two decades. After Wonderland Sydney opened nearby, attendance fell quickly and the park closed in the early 1990s.
Television commercials for the park used the song "Magic" by the band Pilot, making it a familiar name for families across New South Wales in the 1970s. For many local children, the jingle became as memorable as the park itself.
The former park site sits in a mixed residential and industrial area on the outskirts of Sydney, and it is easiest to reach by car. Since the park no longer operates, visitors interested in its history should check in advance what remains at the site today.
Some of the rides at the park came directly from Luna Park in Sydney, which closed in 1979 after a deadly fire in its Ghost Train attraction. Those rides carried a whole separate chapter of Sydney amusement history into Lansvale, years after Luna Park itself had shut its gates.
