Dunggir National Park

Dunggir National Park is a nature reserve featuring three different types of rainforest and eucalypt forests near Macksville. The site offers several walking paths and observation points for visitors to explore.

The New South Wales government created this protected area to preserve natural habitats and maintain the ecological balance of native species. This designation was a measure to protect the region's ecosystems.

The name comes from the Gumbaynggirr language meaning koala, showing the deep bond between Aboriginal people and this ancestral land. Visitors experience this cultural meaning while walking through the landscape.

Kosekai Lookout provides extensive views across Nambucca Valley toward the coast and is a key spot for visitors. Good footwear helps when exploring the various walking paths on the site.

The protected area houses twelve threatened animal species and 400 native plant varieties, making it an essential sanctuary for regional biodiversity. This species richness develops from the interplay of several forest types in one location.
