The Port Curtis Sailing Club Clubhouse, constructed between 1949 and 1959, became a central venue for the inaugural Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.
Members and volunteers of the sailing club contributed materials and labor to construct the clubhouse, creating a strong community foundation for maritime activities.
The facility includes boat storage areas, multiple dining spaces, meeting rooms, and outdoor decks for organizing sailing events and social gatherings.
Architect Philip Hanman designed the structure as one of Queensland's earliest post-war clubhouses, incorporating dedicated spaces for race plotting and tracking.
