Curtis Island National Park encompasses salt marshes, mangroves, and sandy beaches along the central Queensland coast, with an elevation of 40 meters.
The protected area gained official national park status in 1992 and underwent a significant expansion of its boundaries in 2013.
The traditional custodians of the land, the Gurang Nation people, maintain deep connections with the island's lands and surrounding waters.
Three designated camping areas within the park allow visitors to stay overnight, though they need to bring their own supplies as no facilities exist.
The Cape Capricorn headland within the park houses multiple heritage sites, including the Sea Hill Point and Sea Hill Light lighthouse structures.
