Queen's Hotel, Townsville, Heritage-listed former hotel on The Strand, Townsville, Australia
The Queen's Hotel building features ornate Art Nouveau architecture with turrets, loggias, wide eaves, and decorative render panels across its two-story structure.
Originally constructed in 1872 as a timber structure, the hotel underwent reconstruction between 1902 and 1920 under owner John Henry Tyack's direction.
The establishment evolved from a distinguished hotel for visiting dignitaries to an American officers' mess during World War II operations in the Pacific.
The building currently houses television studios and office spaces, with parts of the structure available for commercial lease on The Strand.
The Queen's Hotel marked several technological firsts in Townsville as the initial establishment connected to both municipal water and gas supplies.
