Tobruk Memorial Baths

Tobruk Memorial Baths is a heritage-listed swimming complex on Townsville's waterfront featuring a 50-meter Olympic pool, a heated 25-meter pool, and a toddler pool. The facility offers changing rooms, an on-site kiosk, and various spaces for recreational and training activities.

Construction of the complex began in 1941 and finished in 1950, created as a memorial to Australians who fought in the Siege of Tobruk during World War II. The project represented postwar recovery efforts and served to honor the sacrifices of military veterans.

The memorial plaque at the entrance honors Australian service members who fought in Tobruk during World War II. This tribute connects the facility to the local community's remembrance of those who served.

The site sits directly along the beachfront promenade and is easily accessible on foot, with ample parking nearby. Visitors should plan ahead since the different pools are used at various times for different activities and swimming programs.
