Yongala Lodge, Historic lodge listed on Queensland Heritage Register in North Ward, Townsville, Australia.
Yongala Lodge is a two-storey timber building featuring decorative cast-iron balustrading, Oregon pine timber mouldings, and extensive verandahs with corrugated iron hipped roofs.
Built between 1883 and 1887 by the Rooney Brothers construction firm, the lodge served as Matthew Rooney's family residence before becoming Nestle Private Hospital in 1916.
The building represents one of the few surviving 19th-century two-storey timber residences in Townsville, showcasing late Victorian architectural craftsmanship and regional building techniques.
Located at 11 Fryer Street, the heritage-listed property now functions as a restaurant and manager's residence within a modern motel development complex.
The lodge shares its name with the SS Yongala shipwreck of 1911, which tragically claimed the lives of original owner Matthew Rooney and his family.
