Nadarivatu Dam, Gravity dam in Nadarivatu District, Nadroga-Navosa Province, Fiji.
The Nadarivatu Dam stands 40 meters tall on the Sigatoka River, using its concrete mass to hold back water for hydroelectric power generation.
The hydropower scheme location was identified in 1977, with construction starting in 2009 and the power station beginning operations on September 7, 2012.
The dam represents a major infrastructure development for Fiji, funded through international cooperation with Chinese and local financial institutions totaling 150 million dollars.
Two Pelton turbine-generators in the power station produce 41.7 megawatts of electricity, contributing 101 gigawatt-hours to Fiji's annual energy supply.
Water from the reservoir travels through a 3,225-meter tunnel to reach the power station, utilizing a 335.7-meter elevation drop for energy generation.
