Mount Tomanivi, Volcanic mountain peak in Western Division, Fiji.

Mount Tomanivi is the highest peak across all Fiji islands, rising 1,324 meters above Viti Levu. The slopes are covered with dense mountain forests that support diverse wildlife populations.

The mountain was called Mount Victoria during British colonial times before returning to its original name. This change reflects the region's broader experience under foreign rule.

The mountain marks a natural boundary on Viti Levu island and creates two different climate zones that shape local farming and settlement patterns today. This geographical division influences how communities organize themselves and which crops thrive on each side.

To climb the mountain, visitors need to arrange a guide from Navai Village for the 4.5-kilometer trek. The hike takes about five hours and demands good fitness because of the challenging terrain and conditions.

The mountain is home to the red-throated lorikeet, a rare bird species that now survives only in this region. This makes the location a critical refuge for endangered wildlife.
