Zuma Beach, Public beach in Malibu, United States

Zuma Beach is a public strand in Malibu that runs for more than two miles along the Pacific coast and is known for its broad sandy stretches. The shore receives regular waves throughout the year, making it suitable for water activities.

The land was acquired by Los Angeles County during the 1940s to create unrestricted coastal access. Development as a public recreational area turned the shore into a destination for visitors from across the metropolitan region.

The strand draws families from across the region on weekends, who gather on the maintained volleyball courts or take long walks along the shoreline. In summer the spot serves as a meeting point for locals who arrive after work to watch the sunset or bring children to play in the shallow areas near the water's edge.

Lifeguard stations are spread along the shore and remain staffed during peak season, posting warnings when conditions become rough. Public restrooms and showers sit near the parking areas, while small food vendors can be found at the northern and southern ends of the site.

No residential buildings stand between Pacific Coast Highway and the sand, so the entire shoreline remains visible from the road. This open layout allows clear sight lines from the parking area all the way to the water, with no structures blocking the view.
