Los Angeles City Hall, Art Deco government building in Downtown Los Angeles, United States
The Los Angeles City Hall rises 138 meters tall with 32 floors, featuring a terracotta and granite exterior in the center of Downtown Los Angeles.
Constructed between 1926 and 1928, the building maintained its status as California's tallest structure until 1964, designed by architects John Parkinson, John Austin, and Albert Martin.
The City Hall represents governmental power through its architectural elements, combining Renaissance and Gothic designs with California-inspired agricultural and industrial motifs.
The observation deck on the 27th floor remains open to visitors during business hours, providing complete views of Los Angeles and the surrounding mountains.
The building underwent a $128 million seismic retrofit, making it the highest base-isolated structure globally, capable of withstanding magnitude 8.2 earthquakes.
