Twin Towers Correctional Facility, County detention center in downtown Los Angeles, US
Twin Towers Correctional Facility is a county detention center in downtown Los Angeles that holds both male and female inmates across several connected structures. The complex includes dedicated areas for medical care and psychological services.
The facility opened in 1997 following the Northridge Earthquake of 1994, which damaged the older courthouse building on Temple Street. It replaced previous facilities and expanded capacity for the growing city population.
The facility implements rehabilitation programs, substance abuse treatment, and mental health services to support inmate reintegration into society.
Visiting hours take place on weekends during morning and early afternoon slots, as well as on certain weekdays. All visitors must register in advance and bring valid identification.
The facility uses a central control system based on security optics that allows staff to monitor all areas simultaneously. This design was pioneering for correctional facilities when it opened in the Nineties.
