Walt Disney Studios

Walt Disney Studios is a film studio complex in Burbank, California, that spreads across roughly 51 acres and includes sound stages, production buildings, and offices connected by streets named after Disney characters. The campus consists of several buildings from different eras, including the Animation Building with its tall tower and modern administrative structures.

The studio opened in 1940 after Disney used the profits from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to build a modern production facility. Over the following decades, the campus grew steadily to accommodate new production methods and business divisions.

The Animation Building displays its purpose through its exterior design and wears a conical hat that recalls the sorcerer from Fantasia. Visitors can see the 1930s and 1940s architecture that still shapes the campus today.

Visiting the campus requires advance clearance as it is an active workplace. The studio sits centrally in Burbank and can be easily spotted from surrounding neighborhoods by its tall buildings.

The Main Theater serves as a screening room for current Disney films and features advanced technology for sound mixing and projection. This facility is regularly used for internal screenings and test showings before films reach cinemas.
