Bungalow Heaven, Historic district in Pasadena, United States.
Bungalow Heaven is a historic residential district in Pasadena with over 800 small craftsman houses built between 1900 and 1930. These homes spread across roughly 125 acres and feature low-pitched roofs, wide front porches, and small-scale designs typical of the period.
The neighborhood developed at the start of the 20th century as a working-class residential area and was designated as Pasadena's first Landmark District in 1989. It gained recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
The houses here reflect Arts and Crafts movement ideas with handmade details and straightforward design. Walking through, you notice the careful craftsmanship in porches, windows, and door frames that show how beauty and everyday living fit together.
McDonald Park serves as the main gathering spot in the area, offering a comfortable place to rest while exploring. Public transit options including local bus lines provide easy access to and through the neighborhood.
With roughly 520 buildings from the early 1900s still standing, this district holds California's largest collection of working-class homes from that era. It shows how a whole neighborhood was built and lived in by ordinary people, rather than just preserving a few houses.
