Electric Eel, Steel roller coaster at SeaWorld San Diego, United States

Electric Eel is a steel launched coaster at SeaWorld San Diego, a Sky Rocket II model from Premier Rides. Its light blue-green track climbs from the lower right into a large vertical loop, held up by an open lattice of tubular columns and diagonal braces. A train of dark seats carries 18 riders, and white letters spelling "ELECTRIC" stand on dark rockwork beside the track.

SeaWorld San Diego announced Electric Eel on January 3, 2017, as part of its largest expansion since opening in 1964. Premier Rides built the Sky Rocket II coaster; crews installed over 200 columns up to 40 feet deep for an 11,000-square-foot foundation mat, finished in November 2017. Vertical construction ended January 17, 2018, and the ride opened May 10, 2018, two days ahead of schedule.

The queue winds through an ocean-floor-themed landscape, though electric eels are freshwater Amazonian fish. Signs along the way give facts about the species, and an educational exhibit stands beside the attraction near the Ocean Explorer area. Composer Rick McKee wrote an original score for the queue and a soundtrack on the boarding platform timed to the coaster's movements.

Educational signs along the way give facts about electric eels, and an original score by Rick McKee plays. The station covers 1,130 square feet on a 1.2-acre site.

Electric Eel is a Sky Rocket II model from Premier Rides, one of three bought by United Parks & Resorts; the other two are Tempesto at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Tigris at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Unlike most other installations of the model, the SeaWorld coasters run a longer train, raising capacity by 50 percent. The train's over-the-shoulder restraints were removed in early 2026.
