Menifee, Suburban city in Riverside County, United States.
Located 30 miles southeast of Riverside, Menifee extends across 50 square miles of land with Interstate 215 running through its center.
Luther Menifee Wilson discovered a substantial gold-bearing quartz deposit in the 1880s, leading to the initial development of the area.
The territory belonged to the Luiseno and Pechanga tribes before coming under Spanish rule in the 1700s and later joining the United States.
The Menifee Union School District and Romoland School District manage elementary education, while Mt San Jacinto College serves higher education needs.
Since its incorporation in 2008, Menifee has transformed from a retirement community into one of California's fastest-growing residential centers.
