Montezooma's Revenge

Montezooma's Revenge is a steel shuttle coaster at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park that launches riders through a vertical loop using a flywheel system. The train consists of seven cars with two rows each, carrying twenty-eight passengers per ride cycle.

This ride opened in 1978 as a design by Anton Schwarzkopf, a renowned coaster engineer. It remains the oldest operating looping shuttle coaster still in its original location worldwide.

The name comes from a bluegrass band that performed regularly in the wagon camp area during the park's early years. This musical connection remains part of the park's identity today.

The coaster operates during the park's main hours and can have varying wait times depending on the time of day and season. Visiting during off-peak hours or using express access options can help minimize waiting time.

Another park coaster called Jaguar passes directly through the vertical loop of this shuttle coaster, creating an unusual intersecting track layout. This kind of crisscrossing configuration is uncommon in roller coaster design.
