Knott's Scary Farm, Halloween haunted attraction in Buena Park, California.
Knott's Scary Farm is a Halloween haunted attraction in Buena Park, California, United States. During autumn weeks the park turns into a landscape of dark mazes, lit zones, and costumed performers who walk among the rides.
Two staff members from the marketing department, George Condos and Martha Boyd, launched the event in 1973 as a three-night experiment. Over the following decades the program grew into a multiweek event with changing themes and additional areas.
The name recalls the early years when the park wanted to surprise guests with a mix of fear and theatricality. Today visitors walk through lanes while costumed actors in monster makeup move through the crowd.
Access is available on select evenings from late September through early November. Most mazes are indoors and sit inside enclosed buildings, while open zones are spread among the regular rides.
A performer named Charlene Parker portrayed the Green Witch character for decades and shaped the look of the event. Her appearances became a reference for other characters in the park.
