Ontario International Airport, International airport in Ontario, California, US
Ontario International Airport is an international commercial airport in Ontario, California, featuring two parallel runways on a site covering roughly 1,740 acres (700 hectares). The two terminal buildings together provide 28 gates and serve as the primary air travel hub for the Inland Empire region.
The site started in 1923 as Latimer Field for small aircraft and grew into a municipal airport when Ontario acquired land for expansion in 1929. Over the following decades, the facility gradually developed into a major hub for passenger and cargo traffic in southern California.
The facility functions as a key connection point for the many communities and business centers spread across the Inland Empire. The terminal design reflects the functional style of California regional airports and sees daily use by travelers from throughout the southern part of the state.
The complex includes direct rental car facilities inside the terminal, shuttle connections to nearby areas, and public transit options for trips into the region. Navigation through the two terminal buildings relies on signage and multiple levels for arrivals, departures, and ground transportation services.
The facility operates around the clock without restrictions on nighttime flights, setting it apart from many other airports in southern California. This flexibility allows cargo services and airlines to schedule extended operations outside standard business hours.
