Glendora, Residential city at San Gabriel Valley foothills, Los Angeles County, United States.

Glendora covers 50.5 square kilometers (19.5 square miles) in the San Gabriel Valley and sits where flat residential streets meet the rising slopes of nearby mountains. Houses range from older wooden structures to newer developments, with public parks and schools scattered throughout the neighborhoods.

The town began in 1887 when George Whitcomb divided 121 hectares (300 acres) and combined his wife Leadora's name with their valley location to create the settlement. Citrus groves dominated the economy for decades before residential neighborhoods gradually replaced the farmland.

Residents gather along the tree-lined main street where storefronts occupy former commercial buildings from earlier decades. The area serves as a meeting point for community events and weekend markets where local families shop and socialize.

Public parks and a library offer places to spend time throughout the residential areas, with playgrounds and open spaces for everyday activities. The nearby national forest provides trails and outdoor areas accessible by car or on foot from the northern edge of town.

The stop-motion animation studio that created Gumby and Davey and Goliath characters operated here for many years. A yearly festival now honors the green clay figure and the local studio where animators shaped these television characters frame by frame.
