Glendora covers 50.5 square kilometers (19.5 square miles) in the San Gabriel Valley and sits where flat residential streets meet the rising slopes of nearby mountains. The town began in 1887 when George Whitcomb divided 121 hectares (300 acres) and combined his wife Leadora's name with their valley location to create the settlement. Citrus groves dominated the economy for decades before residential neighborhoods gradually replaced the farmland.
Residents gather along the tree-lined main street where storefronts occupy former commercial buildings from earlier decades. The area serves as a meeting point for community events and weekend markets where local families shop and socialize.
