Lake Arrowhead Reservoir

Lake Arrowhead Reservoir is a man-made lake in the San Bernardino Mountains at an elevation of about 5,100 feet (1,550 meters) and spans roughly 315 acres (127 hectares). The water is extracted, treated at local facilities, and delivered to homes throughout the surrounding communities.

Construction of the dam began in 1904, but disputes over water rights delayed its completion until 1922 when the Arrowhead Lake Company finished the project. This development transformed how the region managed and distributed water to growing communities.

The reservoir serves as a private recreational space where local residents with specific access rights gather throughout the year. The community around it has developed a strong connection to the water, viewing it as part of their shared identity.
