Jewish History Museum, Museum and synagogue in Tucson, United States
The Jewish History Museum is located in a restored temple building on Stone Avenue and presents exhibits about Jewish heritage and Holocaust education. The spaces contain extensive collections of documents, personal objects, and visual materials.
The building was constructed in 1910 as the first synagogue in Arizona Territory. It was converted into a museum space in 2005 to preserve the history of this early community.
The collection displays photographs and artifacts that tell the story of Jewish communities in the Arizona region. Visitors gain insight into the lives and experiences of these communities across different generations.
The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with last entry at 4:30 PM. Plan at least an hour and a half to two hours for your visit to explore the exhibits comfortably.
The building combines Greek Revival and Rundbogenstil architectural styles and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. This rare blend of architectural approaches reflects the cultural diversity of early Arizona communities.
