Queen Creek, Suburban town in southeastern Phoenix metropolitan area, United States
Queen Creek is a town located in the Arizona desert landscape southeast of Phoenix. The community spreads across residential neighborhoods and commercial districts at an elevation of approximately 1,400 feet (430 meters).
The settlement began in 1919 as a railroad stop called Rittenhouse when C. H. Rittenhouse founded Queen Creek Farms Company to support agricultural transport needs. The location later developed into a modern suburban community of the Phoenix metropolitan area.
The Old Rittenhouse Elementary School, constructed in 1925, now functions as the San Tan Historical Society, preserving local heritage through exhibitions.
The town offers numerous schools from multiple districts and charter options to serve families in the area. The community provides various public facilities and parks for recreation and outdoor activities.
The Desert Wells Stage Stop, built in 1868, marks a historic stopping point on early travel routes between Florence and Mesa. This site serves as a reminder of the area's early transportation network before modern development took over.
