Hotel Cortez, Renaissance Revival hotel in downtown El Paso, United States.

Hotel Cortez is an 11-story building at 300 North Mesa Street featuring classical architectural elements and Spanish Colonial Revival influences. The facade displays Renaissance Revival details with decorative stonework and ornamental patterns that distinguish the structure from other downtown buildings.

The building was constructed in 1926 by architectural firm Trost & Trost and originally operated as Hotel Orndorff. Over time, it transitioned through different uses including a job training center and office spaces as El Paso's downtown landscape evolved.

President John F. Kennedy's overnight stay in June 1963 marked one of many notable events that took place within the walls of this El Paso landmark.

The building is easily visible from the street and centrally located in downtown El Paso, making it accessible on foot. Visitors should note that the interior may differ from the ornate exterior since the building has undergone multiple changes in use over the decades.

Two renowned architects shaped the building's character through their careful design of Renaissance details that reflect the architectural values of the 1920s. These design features are subtle enough to be overlooked during a quick walk-by, but reveal considerable craftsmanship upon closer inspection.
