The Government Center Tower extends 65 meters into the San Salvador skyline and contains 17 floors, including three underground levels.
The construction started in 1976 during Colonel Arturo Armando Molina's administration and began operations in 1980 under President Carlos Humberto Romero.
This government building represents a combination of brutalist and functionalist architectural styles, designed by Salvadoran architect Manuel Roberto Meléndez Bischitz.
The tower houses the Ministry of Interior offices and features eight elevators to facilitate movement throughout its floors.
The building cost 5.3 million colones to construct, which translates to approximately 663,349 dollars in current currency.
