Iglesia de María Auxiliadora, Catholic parish church in San Salvador, El Salvador
The Iglesia de María Auxiliadora stands with a 90-meter tower and features a copper statue of Mary Help of Christians at its dome summit.
Construction of the church began on November 1, 1950, marking the day when the Assumption of Mary was established as Catholic dogma.
The church incorporates Romanesque architectural elements with a main nave in the shape of a cross, measuring 69 meters long and 25 meters wide.
Four Dutch-manufactured clocks by Peter-Frissen company adorn the bell tower, which underwent restoration in 2005 following earthquake damage.
The church grounds cover 4 hectares, and its tower remained the tallest structure in San Salvador for many years.
